Avalanche

Difficult conditions, especially first parts of the day. Avoid areas in the alpine with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies. Further down there is an increased risk for wet snow avalanches. (NVE)

Nord-Troms

Published: 2020-05-11 03:40 PM Valid: from 2020-05-12 12:00 AM to 2020-05-12 11:59 PM

Difficult conditions. Avoid areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies. The weather calms down a bit through the day, and the avalanche danger will decrease gradually. (NVE)

Lyngen

Published: 2020-05-11 03:40 PM Valid: from 2020-05-12 12:00 AM to 2020-05-12 11:59 PM

Locally unstable conditions. A skier or a snow mobile may trigger avalanches in the fresh wind slabs, while persistent weak layers deeper in the snow in general is hard to trigger. (NVE)

Tromsø

Published: 2020-05-11 03:40 PM Valid: from 2020-05-12 12:00 AM to 2020-05-12 11:59 PM

Be careful in lee areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies. Especially where the wind deposited slabs are thin or soft, a slab avalanche is easier to trigger here. Be also aware of cornices that can break off and trigger avalanches in the terrain below. (NVE)

Sør-Troms

Published: 2020-05-11 03:40 PM Valid: from 2020-05-12 12:00 AM to 2020-05-12 11:59 PM

Use caution on recently loaded slopes above treeline. Snow showers and strong wind will cause more widespread wind slabs, but large regional differences are expected. In the very alpine, a persistent weak layer of surface hoar could be triggered on isolated terrain. (NVE)
