Debris avalanches, debris flows and slush slides warning yellow level for parts of Sør-Norge

2

Yellow level

Published: Valid: from 29.01.2022 07:00 to 30.01.2022 06:59
Next forecast before:
  • Danger ongoing: Friday evening 28. Jan. 2022
  • Danger decrease: Saturday evening 29. Jan. 2022
  • Height: 0 - 1000 moh

Consequence

Landslides may be expected. Exposed railways and roads may be closed. Debris flows may reach the valley bottom even if they are triggered high in the terrain.

Advice

Keep away from steep slopes, as well as streams and rivers with high discharge. Keep water paths and culverts free of snow, ice, gravel, waste, twigs and leaves. Clogged waterways with dammed water may cause landslides.

Description

Rain is expected up to 1000 meters above sea level. Landslides may be expected. Exposed railways and roads may be closed. Slushflows are triggered even in relatively gentle slopes, where water accumulates. Slushflows follow terrain depressions and may develop into debris flows. Steep slopes, as well as streams and rivers with high discharge, are particularly exposed. Relatively high temperatures and windy conditions causes significant snowmelting. Groundwater and soil moisture are high.
