Avalanche warning for region Vest-Telemark Sunday 28.05.2023

Danger level 1 - Low avalanche danger

Published:
Generally stable conditions, but danger of wet avalanches in steep terrain. Sun-exposed mountainsides are most exposed, especially during the afternoon. Keep a safe distance to cornices and glide cracks.

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Loose snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Saturday 27. May 2023

Mountain weather

Saturday 27. May 2023

1 mm precipitation, up to 8 mm in the most exposed areas. Precipitation as rain. Breeze from west, changing to strong breeze from the west during the afternoon. -1 °C to 11 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Sunday 28. May 2023

Little to no precipitation. Moderate gale from west, changing to fresh breeze from the northwest during the evening. -1 °C to 6 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Generelt stabile forhold. Skredfaren varierer og avhenger av solinnstråling, graden av nattefrost og lufttemperatur. Vær forsiktig i bratt terreng med våt og myk snøoverflate. Her kan skiløpere løse ut våte løssnøskred.
Hold avstand til skavler.
