Avalanche warning for region Heiane Tuesday 31.01.2023

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Published:
Be careful in lee areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies. Naturally released loose avalanches can occur.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Loose snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Monday 30. January 2023

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Under mildværsgrensen vil regn i ny snø gi fare for mindre, våte løssnøskred.
