Avalanche warning for region Heiane Thursday 14.04.2022

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Warm temperatures are weakening the snow pack and avalanche activity is expected. Be extra careful when it is raining or in areas where the sun is affecting the snow. The problem will be most critical where the snow did not freeze over night.

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (slab avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Buried weak layer of surface hoar

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Loose snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Det ligg enkelte flak på vedvarande svake lag i snødekket. Skred kan gå naturleg og vere svært enkelt å løyse ut.

I bratte fjellsider lyt ein forvente enkelte små våte laussnøskred.
