Avalanche warning for region Heiane Tuesday 28.12.2021

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Be aware of isolated wind slabs, otherwise stable conditions.

Avalanche problems

New snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Monday 27. December 2021

Det er lite snø og begrenset skiføre i området. Mandag var det kraftig vind og snø i lufta.

Gammel smelteomvandlet snø ligger usammenhengende og i forsenkninger i fjellet.

Mountain weather

Monday 27. December 2021

4-7 mm precipitation. Precipitation as snow. Moderate gale from southeast. -16 °C to -6 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Tuesday 28. December 2021

3 mm precipitation, up to 8 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 100 m a.s.l. Strong breeze from east. -9 °C to -4 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Vær varsom i områder som samler snø. Kraftig vind og noe nedbør kan danne ustabile fokksnøflak.
Ellers ventes store områder å være avblåst og ha stabile forhold.
