Be aware of a persistant weak layer buried by windslabs and wet avalanches in lower elevations. Stay away from avalanche terrain.

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3). Remote triggering is possible.

Snøoverflaten består av fokksnøflak av varierende hardhet. Det ligger også en god del løssnø i skjermede formasjoner og i skogen. Mildvær i helgen har gitt fuktig/vått snødekke høyt til fjells. Nattefrost sist natt har dannet skarelag i overflaten over ca 1200moh.

Langvarig kulde fram til sist helg har dannet flere vedvarende svake lag av kantkornet snø i snødekket.
I lavere strøk har disse blitt stabilisert av mildværet, men høyt til fjells vil det ta noe tid før kantkorn blir omdannet til mer stabile krystallformer.

Det meldes som flere personutløste sked de siste dagene, siste døgn også enkelte naturlige utløste skred over vei.

1-3 mm precipitation. Breeze from southwest, changing to strong breeze from the south during the evening. -4 °C to 1 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Relativt rolig vær og litt lavere temperatur først på dagen gir snødekket tid til gradvis stabilisering. Mot kvelden vil økende vind gi ferske fokksnøflak over ca 1100moh. I høyfjellet ligger det fortsatt aktive lag med kantkorn som kan løse ut skred og fjernutløsning er mulig. Under nysnøgrensen kan regn påvirke svake lag enkelte steder høyt i snødekket.
