Høyt til fjells finnes det tørre flakdannelser etter siste snøfall og vind. Det gamle snødekket har vært gjennomfukta og fremstår som stabilt. Det er generelt mye snø i fjellet, og mange steder store skavler i østvendte fjellsider.

Der det blir direkte solinnstråling i bratt terreng kan mindre våte skred løsne av seg selv. Det finnes store skavler etter mye vestavær i vinter. Vær forsiktig ved ferdsel langs rygger og på topper. Hold alltid god avstand til skavler og sigesprekker i snødekket.
