Avalanche warning for region Vest-Finnmark Tuesday 13.04.2021

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Avoid lee areas with newly deposited wind slabs. There are persistent weak layers in the snowpack, but these are hard to trigger. Loose snow avalanches are expected in sun-exposed slopes.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Buried weak layer of new snow

New snow (loose snow avalanches)

on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Loose snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Tuesday 13. April 2021

Mountain weather

Monday 12. April 2021

3-6 mm precipitation. Fresh breeze from west, changing to breeze from the west during the evening. -11 °C to -5 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Tuesday 13. April 2021

1-3 mm precipitation. Breeze from west, changing to fresh breeze from the west during the evening. -15 °C to -6 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
