Avalanche warning for region Trollheimen Thursday 11.03.2021

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Naturally triggered avalanches can occure first part of the day.
Be careful in lee areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Snøoverflata ber preg av kraftig vind og mykje snøtransport av snøen som kom førre veke. Laurdag vart det transportert mykje snø i heng mot aust og sør, mens det no er pågåande kraftig vind som gjev snøtransport til leområder mot nord og vest.

Den eldre snøen er jamt over smelteovandla etter kraftig mildvêr tidleg i førre veke.

Vedvarande svake lag frå kuldeperioden i januar er i stor grad nøytralisert opp til ca 1200 moh pga kraftig mildvær. Over denne høgda kan laget framleis vere eit problem nokre stadar.

Observatør aust om Storehaugen melder onsdag om kraftig vind og flakdanningar i mange himmelretningar. Fleire naturleg utløyste skred av storleik 2.

Det er mange stadar store skavlar, spesielt mot aust.

Thursday 11. March 2021

2-6 mm precipitation. Storm from south, changing to moderate gale from the south during the afternoon. -11 °C to -5 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.
