Avalanche warning for region Trollheimen Saturday 04.04.2020

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Published:
Difficult conditions. As a skier, avoid lee areas with wind deposited snow. Especially in the tree line where the wind deposited slabs are thin or soft, a slab avalanche is easier to trigger there. Natural released storm slabs are still possible.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Poor bonding between layers in wind deposited snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Friday 3. April 2020

Saturday 4. April 2020

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
