Avalanche warning for region Trollheimen Friday 08.03.2019

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Be careful in lee areas with storm slabs, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies. Be aware that persistant weak layers can be burried below the new snow in some locations.

Avalanche problems

New snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Thursday 7. March 2019

Mountain weather

Thursday 7. March 2019

3-5 mm precipitation. Strong breeze from southeast, changing to breeze from the east during the afternoon. -10 °C to -4 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Friday 8. March 2019

6 mm precipitation, up to 12 mm in the most exposed areas. Moderate gale from northwest, changing to strong breeze from the northwest during the evening. -14 °C to -8 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
