Avalanche warning for region Trollheimen Monday 14.01.2019

Danger level 4 - High avalanche danger

An increase in wind will lead to a large amount of wind transported snow. Avoid all avalanche terrain. Naturally triggered avalanches likely.

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a large truck or destroy several houses (size 4).

Monday 14. January 2019

Det har komme 15 - 25 cm snø siste døgnet med store lokale variasjonar. Nedbøren har kome i sterk vind frå SV til NV.

Snøoverflata ber preg av vinden den siste tida og N-Ø-S leområder har akkumulert mykje snø den siste veka.

Vestvendte sider, samt toppar og ryggar er avblesne.

Det gamle snødekket vert vurdert stabilt opp til ca 1000-1200 moh, då det har vore påvirka av regn og kraftig mildveir.


Det var laurdag observert drønn i snøen på 929 moh nordaust for Nonshøa.

Observatør (vest for Storhornet) melder sundag om ca 20 cm tørr nysnø og snøfokk med vind frå NV.

Sundag føremiddag er det snøvêr til havnivå og aukande vindstyrke i fjellet.

15 mm precipitation, up to 25 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from southwest, changing to moderate gale from the northwest during renoon. -12 °C to -5 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Monday 14. January 2019

20 mm precipitation, up to 40 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong gale from northwest, changing to strong breeze from the northwest during the evening. -13 °C to -8 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Pågåande kraftig vind frå NV, og stadvis mykje nedbør vil gje stor snøtransport inn i leområder mot N-S-Ø. Det vil byggje seg opp ferske fokksnøflak over 300 moh. Det ligg òg eldre ustabile fokksnøflak mot N-S-Ø over 400 moh. Auka pålagring på desse kan gje skred av storleik 4.

Ein kan forvente fleire naturleg utløyste skred.

Skredfaren vil vere størst i dei områda som får mest nedbør.
