Avalanche warning for region Sør-Troms Thursday 01.04.2021

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Use caution on recently formed wind slabs in the high alpine. Localised snow showers and large differences in the amount of precipitation are likely. At lower elevations the snowpack is wet, corn snow and offers little in terms of support.

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Det er generelt lite snø opptil ca 400 moh og snødekket her er våt grovkornet snø.

Over 400 moh er det greit med snø. De siste dagene har det vært vekslende nysnøgrensen, fra 400 til 800 moh. Snøoverflaten har derav endret seg fra tørr til våt. Mot de høyeste toppene er det fortsatt tørr snø.

I indre strøk mot region Indre Troms kan det fortsatt være vedvarende svake lag i snødekket. Mest trolig over ca. 700 moh.

Søndag er det observert et stort snøskred på Senja, men tidspunktet for skredet er usikkert.

5 mm precipitation, up to 10 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from west. -4 °C to 0 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Skredfaren er knyttet til ferske fokksnøflak som kan danne seg med bygevær fra vest-nordvest. Det kan være store lokale forskjeller. Gunstige temperaturer gjør at fokksnøen stabilisere seg raskt.

Vær oppmerksom på at snødekket i lavlandet er våt, grovkornet snø og ferdsel er krevende.

I områder uten fersk fokksnø vil skredfaren være 1-liten.
