Generally unstable conditions. Be careful in areas with windslabs in the alpine. Naturally released avalanches may occur in areas with heavy snowfall.

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Monday 7. January 2019

Søndag var det mildt i regionen med regn opp til 800-1000 moh, etter at det tidligere forrige uke kom en del nysnø sammen med kraftig vind. Mandag er det kaldere igjen, og en ny runde med snøbyger og kuling fra SV-V.

I høyfjellet er snødekket ujevnt fordelt og det kan finnes større fokksnøflak i leområder.

Fredag 5. januar ble overflaterimet fra jula observert langt nede i snødekket i indre deler av regionen, men laget er svært vanskelig å påvirke.
Det er tidligere observert kantkorn i bunnen av snødekket, men laget er ikke aktivt.

12 mm precipitation, up to 20 mm in the most exposed areas. Moderate gale from southwest. -7 °C to -2 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Tuesday 8. January 2019

8 mm precipitation, up to 18 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong breeze from west, changing to strong breeze from the north during renoon. -7 °C to -2 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Kuling fra SV-V og påfyll av snø i fjellet fører til ferske, ustabile fokksnøflak i leformasjoner, særlig i østvendte heng. Vinddreining i løpet av dagen fører til at også andre himmelretninger vil bli utsatt. I de områdene som får mest nysnø kan det også gå naturlig utløste skred.
