Avalanche warning for region Sunnmøre Friday 22.03.2019

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

General unstable conditions. Wet avalanches are expected. In the mountains where precipitation falls as snow, avoid new and fresh stormslabs.

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Over midværsgrensa natt til torsdag er snøen vindpåvirka. Litt usikkert hvor høyt mildværet har påvirka snødekket, men i alle fall opptil 1000 moh.

Det finnes vedvarende svake lag av kantkorn i snødekket over skare, men også lenger ned i snødekket mot gammel smelteomvandlet snø. Man kan finne kantkornlag i alle himmelretninger. Det kan finnes lokale områder med nedføyket overflaterim.

Observasjoner torsdag viser at snødekket er isotermt på 1000 moh. Værstasjonen på Roaldshornet (1050 moh.) viser at det kun kortvarig var varmegrader på værstasjonen natt til torsdag.

10 mm precipitation, up to 20 mm in the most exposed areas. Moderate gale from southwest, changing to fresh breeze from the west during the afternoon. -7 °C to 2 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Friday 22. March 2019

8 mm precipitation, up to 13 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong breeze from south, changing to gale from the southwest during the afternoon. -6 °C to 4 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Over mildværsgrensa vil snø og kraftig vind gi ferske fokksnøflak, mest utsatt er heng mot N.

Mildværet vil trekke høyere opp i fjellet og gi fare for våte skred. Det kan ta noe tid før mildværet trekker ned til vedvarende svake lag.
