Avalanche warning for region Romsdal Tuesday 14.04.2020

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Be careful in areas with fresh wind deposited snow. Rain and an increase of temperature can produce small wet avalanches in lower areas.

Monday 13. April 2020

Plussgrader til fjelltopphøyde har gitt skarelag og virket stabiliserende på det gamle snødekket.
Det er store snømengder i høyfjellet og skavler er mange stader store.
Det gamle snødekket er isotermt opp til ca 700 moh.

Lørdag gikk det mange løssnøskred i forbindelse med stigende temperatur.

Væromslag søndag formiddag fra sørlig, varmt vær til NV og snøbyger. Til mandag morgen var det registrert 30 - 50 cm nysnø flere steder i indre del av regionen.

13 mm precipitation, up to 30 mm in the most exposed areas. Gale from northwest, changing to strong breeze from the northwest during the afternoon. -11 °C to -6 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Tuesday 14. April 2020

27 mm precipitation, up to 40 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong breeze from west, changing to moderate gale from the west during the afternoon. -9 °C to -2 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Ny snø og kraftig vind fra V vil i høyden gi nye, ustabile flakdannelser, mest utsatt er heng mot Ø.
Stigende temperatur og regn vil utover dagen gi fare for naturlig utløste løssnøskred under ca 800 moh. Bratte, klassiske skredbaner er mest utsatt. I indre del av regionen, der det har kommet mest snø de siste dagene, kan skred bli str 3 store.
Vær oppmerksom på at skavler mange steder er store, spesielt mot Ø.
