Weather change! Natural avalanches expected due temperature rise and rain. Fresh storm slabs are the problem in the mountains. Avoid avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Varselet er i hovedsak basert på værprognoser da det er en B-region og få observasjoner av snødekket.

Det har vært lite snø i regionen og lave temperaturer over en lengre periode gjør at det kan finnes svakt lag av kantkorn i snødekket, slik som situasjonen er i naboregionen Svartisen. Observasjon fra Kveldstuva i Vefsen fredag 19.02 tyder på at det er både nedføyka kantkorn og rim under fokksnøen.

Det ventes mye nedbør, særlig i indre deler av regionen. Mildværsgrensa går høyt til fjells og det ventes naturlig utløste våte flakskred. Over mildværsgrensa vil det legges opp ustabile fokksnøflak, og også her vil skredene kunne gå naturlig og faren er størst i forbindelse med vindøkning utover dagen.
