Avalanche warning for region Helgeland Saturday 23.03.2019

Danger level 4 - High avalanche danger

Published:
Dangerous avalanche conditions due to large amounts of new snow and strong winds. Natural avalanches are likely. Avoid avalanche terrain.

Avalanche problems

New snow (slab avalanches)

You can very easily trigger avalanches on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Mountain weather

Saturday 23. March 2019

25 mm precipitation, up to 50 mm in the most exposed areas. Gale from southwest, changing to storm from the west during the afternoon. -6 °C to -1 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
