Avalanche warning for region Heiane Thursday 07.03.2019

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Wind deposited snow is the problem above the new snow line, lower down some naturally released wet avalanches can occur due to rain and rise in temperature.

You can easily trigger avalanches on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Snøoverflata er prega av nysnø og vind dei siste dagane. Det har kome opptil 50 cm nysnø sidan søndag og kombinert med vind frå SØ har det lagt seg opp mykje snø i heng mot NV. Under nysnøen er det gamle snødekket smelteomdanna og gjenfrose utan lagdeling opp til om lag 1200 moh.

Observasjonar dei siste dagane fortel at nysnøen er fuktig under 800 moh. Det er tynt snødekke under 500 moh og framleis mindre snø enn normalt i regionen.

Avalanche risk assessment

Nysnø og vind dannar nysnøflak i heng som ligg i le for vinden. Desse flaka kan ein einskild skikøyrar påverke og skred opp i storleik 2 er mogleg. Ver merksam på at når vinden snur vil fleire heng bli utsett. Temperaturstigning utover dagen vil svekke bindingane i flaka og i låglandet der snø går over til regn vil våte laussnøskred kunne løysast ut naturleg i alle himmelretningar. Faregraden aukar og held seg på 3 så lenge vêret står på.
