Avalanche warning for region Heiane Monday 25.02.2019

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
High temperature and rain elevate the danger of wet avalanches.

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Water pooling in/above snow layers

Glide avalanches

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Wet snow/melting near the ground

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Sunday 24. February 2019

Mountain weather

Sunday 24. February 2019

Little to no precipitation. Strong breeze from west, changing to breeze from the west during the evening. -3 °C to 3 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Monday 25. February 2019

No precipitation. Fresh breeze from west, changing to breeze from the northwest during the evening. -2 °C to 4 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
