Avalanche warning for region Finnmarkskysten Thursday 08.04.2021

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
New snow with wind will create small unstable storm slabs in lee areas. Wet loose avalanches in south and west facing slopes are expected when the sun comes out.

Avalanche problems

New snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Loose snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Wednesday 7. April 2021

Mountain weather

Wednesday 7. April 2021

1 mm precipitation, up to 6 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from southeast, changing to fresh breeze from the southwest during the evening. -9 °C to -4 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Thursday 8. April 2021

Little to no precipitation. Fresh breeze from southwest, changing to breeze from the southwest during renoon. -13 °C to -5 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
