Avalanche warning for region Voss Friday 22.03.2019

General unstable conditions. Wet avalanches are expected. In the mountains where precipitation falls as snow, avoid new and fresh stormslabs.

Natt til torsdag var det regn og mildvær høyt til fjells. Snøoverflaten er trolig fuktig i store deler av regionen. Over mildværsgrensa er snøoverflaten vindpåvirket.

Før mildværet var det vedvarende svake lag med kantkorn i snødekket. Det er usikkerhet om i hvilken grad disse er bevart.

Mandag ble det meld om skiløper utløste skred i Bavallen og i Jordalen. Tirsdag ble det observert solutløste løssnøskred på Kvamskogen.

Værstasjonen på Vikafjellet (910 moh.) viser vamegrader fra kokka 02:30 i natt. Torsdag morgen har det kommet mellom 20 og 60 mm nedbør siste døgn på værstasjoner i regionen.

25 mm precipitation, up to 40 mm in the most exposed areas. Moderate gale from southwest, changing to fresh breeze from the west during the afternoon. -3 °C to 4 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Friday 22. March 2019

18 mm precipitation, up to 35 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong breeze from south, changing to gale from the southwest during the afternoon. -4 °C to 3 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Høye temperaturer høyt til fjells gir fortsatt fare for våte skred. Ettersom mildværet har stått på en stund vil skredfaren gå ned, men det kan ta noe tid før mildværet trekker ned til vedvarende svake lag.

Over mildværsgrensa vil snø og vind gi ferske fokksnøflak, mest utsatt er heng mot NV-N-Ø.
