Avalanche warning for region Trollheimen Saturday 23.03.2019

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Wind and fresh snow may give instable conditions. Be careful in lee areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies. Especially where the wind deposited slabs are thin or soft, a slab avalanche is easier to trigger there. Especially avoid convex terrain.

You can easily trigger avalanches on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Over midværsgrensa natt til torsdag er snøen vindpåvirka. Det er usikkert hvor høyt mildværet torsdag har påvirket snøoverflata.

Før mildværet var det vedvarende svake lag med kantkorn i snødekket. Det er usikkerhet om i hvilken grad disse er bevart.

Det ble observert middels store tørre flakskred i bratte østvendte heng, tirsdag flere steder i regionen.

Tirsdag er det observert kantkornlag i snødekket, spesielt godt utviklet i sørlig sektor rundt skarelag.

4-8 mm precipitation. Strong breeze from south, changing to strong gale from the south during the afternoon. -8 °C to 2 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Saturday 23. March 2019

12 mm precipitation, up to 20 mm in the most exposed areas. Gale from southwest, changing to strong gale from the west during the afternoon. -8 °C to -3 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Snø og kraftig vind vil føre til dannelse av nysnøflak, mest utsatt er heng mot NØ og Ø.

I enkelte områder høyt til fjells kan de ferske nysnøflakene legge seg over vedvarende svake lag av kantkorn, dette kan gi store skred. Det er usikkert om vedvarende svake lag er bevart i høyden etter mildværet natt til torsdag og fredag, det er ikke tatt med som skredproblem nå.
