Avalanche warning for region Trollheimen Tuesday 15.01.2019

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Be careful in lee areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies. Especially where the wind deposited slabs are thin or soft, a slab avalanche is easier to trigger there.

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Det har komme opptil 40 cm snø siste døgnet med store lokale forskjellar. Nedbøren har kome i kraftig NV og lagt opp mykje snø i søraustlege leområder. Snøen er vindpåvirke langt ned i skogen.

Snøoverflata ber preg av vinden den siste tida og N-Ø-S leområder har akkumulert mykje snø den siste tida.

Vestvendte sider, samt toppar og ryggar er avblesne.

Det gamle snødekket vert vurdert stabilt opp til ca 1000-1200 moh, då det har vore påvirka av regn og kraftig mildveir.

Det var laurdag observert drønn i snøen på 929 moh nordaust for Nonshøa.

Det er måndag registrert eit naturleg utløyst flakskred i nordvendt side av storleik 2 i Sunndalen.

Observatør i Oppdal melder måndag inn store mengder nysnø.

Sundag føremiddag er det snøvêr til havnivå og aukande vindstyrke i fjellet.

20 mm precipitation, up to 40 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong gale from northwest, changing to strong breeze from the northwest during the evening. -13 °C to -8 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Tuesday 15. January 2019

10 mm precipitation, up to 15 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from northwest, changing to fresh breeze from the south during the afternoon. -13 °C to -5 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Det vil ligge større ustabile fokksnøflak i leområder mot NØ-Ø-S-SV over 300 moh etter uværet måndag. Desse vil trenge tid for å stabilisere seg.

Ny nedbør og vind med endrande retning frå NV til S vil bygge opp mindre ferske fokksnøflak i alle himmelretningar over 200 moh.
