Avalanche warning for region Svartisen Monday 13.05.2019

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Avoid recently loaded slopes in the alpine. Heavy precipitation during the weekend has formed thick wind slabs that can easily be triggered.

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Søndag er det kraftig bygevær fra NV i regionen. Det blåser tidvis kraftig.

Før helgen besto snøoverflaten i hovedsak av smelteformer etter lengre tid med milde forhold. Skiføret var godt og fast.

Snøgrensen begynner å trekke seg oppover.

Før helgen var snødekket isotermt, altså uten tørre lagdelinger til min. 1500 moh.

25 mm precipitation, up to 40 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from northwest, changing to moderate gale from the northwest during the afternoon. -5 °C to 0 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Monday 13. May 2019

8 mm precipitation, up to 18 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong breeze from west. -6 °C to -1 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Restene av lavtrykket kan fortsette å gi noen snøbyger i høyden. Lokalt store nedbørmengder søndag, gjør at det lokalt kan ligge store ansamlinger av fokksnø.

Under nysnøgrensen vil skredfaren raskt minke når nedbøren gir seg.
