Avalanche warning for region Sunnmøre Tuesday 18.02.2020

The danger increases when the wind picks up. Avoid areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies.

You can very easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Monday 17. February 2020

Det kom om lag 50 cm snø sist veke. Mykje vind laurdag har gitt både harde fokksnøflak, skavlar og avblåste ryggar. Kortvarig mildvêr over 1000 moh natt til søndag har fukta den lause snøen som låg under skoggrensa. Under den siste snøen er det gamle snødekket smelteomdanna høgt til fjells. Det er skiføre frå omlag 200 moh.

Det er observert våte skred søndag, både mellom Valldal og Tafjord og mellom Eidsdal og Geiranger. Storleiken er anslått til str. 2-3.

Nedbøren frå søndag til måndag har hovudsakeleg kome sør og vest i regionen. Ingen stasjoner har målt over 15 mm.

25 mm precipitation, up to 35 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong breeze from southwest, changing to fresh breeze from the southwest during the afternoon. -8 °C to -1 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Meir nedbør og vind gjer at skredfaren aukar noko tirsdag. Skred kan også løysas ut naturleg. Når temperaturen går ned vil ein finne fokksnøflak lågare i terrenget, men eventuelle skred her vil ikke bli like store som høgare til fjells. Det er venta mest snø sør i regionen og her vil også skredfaren vere høgast.
