Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

The danger increases when the wind picks up. Be careful in lee areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies.

You can easily trigger avalanches on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Siste veka har det komme mykje snø. Vinden som følgjer med bygenedbøren frå nordvest har lagt opp store mengder fokksnø i leområder mot sør og aust, og samstundes har den blåst ryggar og rabbar fri for snø. Over skoggrensa er snøen vindpakka, og blir gradvis fastare over tid. I lune områder og under skoggrensa er snøen lausare og mjukare. Ein del snøfokk søndag og opptil 25 cm nysnø mandag.

Det er observasjonar på kantkorn over skarelag ved Haukeli før helga. Dette blir fulgt med på i tida framover.

4 mm precipitation, up to 10 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from west, changing to breeze from the west during renoon. -14 °C to -7 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Tuesday 22. January 2019

2-6 mm precipitation. Strong breeze from southeast. -12 °C to -7 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Det er laus snø tilgjengeleg for vind, og vindauke opp i kuling frå ny retning vil flytte mykje av denne lause snøen. Med litt nysnø i tillegg vil dette gi ferske fokksnøflak i mange bratte heng mot N og V. Skiløpar kan lett løyse ut desse flaka medan dei er ferske.
